16 week adventures
Our Little One's life experiences continue within the womb. At the end of April our little family traveled to the land of Dorothy (that's Kansas, folks!) to visit Mike's youngest sister Lisa. It was a great visit with Lisa complete with a tour of the Payless Headquarters-aka shoe heaven, a tornado touching down within 10 miles, and some of the best sushi we've ever had.
The baby went to its first in the womb concert--none other than Dave Matthews Band. Mom and Dad have been followers for 15 years-we're getting old! The concert was awesome from our 6th row center seats!
Mike survived his Lasik eye surgery last week and is now the eagle eyes in the family--babies eye sight is unknown :) Mike's vision was corrected from 20/400 (blind as a bat!) to 20/15! The patient did well post op and it's a whole new world without glasses!

Week 15
Week 15 and soundly in my Second Trimester! With nausea almost completely gone and my energy increasing we are getting very excited about our impending parenthood. Mike has even made his first excursion to Babies ‘R’ Us leaving with a moderate case of baby overload! Our daily discussion have now become about plans for the nursery, baby names, and the overwhelming amount of preparation we have yet to do. Currently our baby supplies consist of 2 bottles, 1 onesie, and 1 pair of baby socks—good thing D-day (due date) is still 25 weeks away! I do not have the classic baby bump yet though I am yearning for one. As the picture illustrates I am in that awkward stage of just looking plump without a notable bump. I am still in my street clothes—yes I can still button my jeans but the cute bar clothes have gone the way of the bikini . . . big sigh. My closet is full of new maternity clothes still on stand by. I am sure in a few months I will be wistfully remembering the days when I fit in the jeans I am currently wearing!
Smile Baby! (April 14, 2009)
Despite being pregnant a full 12 weeks “the baby” or the “little one” as some have dubbed the new Sekerak did not seem a reality until today. The First Ultrasound! The pictures from this high resolution machine were amazing and as you can see we got a picture of our baby’s first moon of a camera! Visualizing the baby confirmed its status as a person and not just this vague notion that has my hormones going wild. During the scan the baby entertained us with an acrobatic act of flips, twists, and turns. The ultrasonographer even commented on the amount of activity! This ones going to be trouble!

10 Weeks (March 29, 2009)
The first trimester should be renamed the frustrating trimester. At this point I am 10 weeks along—as you can see, little external physical evidence of pregnancy. However my ability to “suck in my gut” has declined so it is time to pack the bikinis away even before summer has started! And yet the signs of pregnancy are there on the inside. Fatigue and nausea define my days--though instead of “morning sickness” I have been blessed with “all day sickness with a slight break from 3:30-6pm.” I am soldiering on as best I can and am very lucky to have such a supportive hubby! Mike has earned an A+ on his first assignment called “Taking Care of Mommy.” We are both awaiting the arrival of “the belly!” Stay tuned . . .Big News (February 23, 2009)

Our journey down this road called baby started tonight over a glass of wine, well technically it start 5 weeks prior over a different glass of wine! While enjoying said glass of wine we began planning our travels over the next few months. Calendars open, the same thought occurred almost simultaneously . . . . I might be PREGNANT! This shared thought led to Mike’s first trip to the store on “Dad Duty.” Like all expectant mothers I somewhat gracefully peed on the stick. Sure enough two bright pink lines appeared almost immediately. Ever the skeptic, or maybe it was just the shock of the enormous responsibility of parenthood, I repeated this procedure the next morning---yup, definitely pregnant. And so our lives began to change forever . . .
