May Madess

Is this not the biggest butternut squash you have ever seen? In my defense it was the only one at the grocery store and Aviana is still enjoying butternut squash today!

Look at me on my hands and knees!

Plotting my next move . . .

How did I get here? A combination of rolling, scooting, and push ups!

My lower lip tastes so good. Aviana chapped her own lip!

What are these dogs wearing?

Happy, happy girl!

Scout is hoping to scrub in on Ann's next surgery!

Serious doggie style!

Celtic Festival

A burly Scot hailing from the McDougall clan holds his daughter-a wee bonnie lass-at the Albuquerque Celtic Festival! Real men wear skirts!

Watching our friend Rich play in the bag pipe band.

Not sure how I feel about bag pipes . . .

. . . . I guess they just take some getting used to!

Proud to be Scots!

Rich and Lori Grainger invited us to join them at the festival. Rich plays a pretty mean bag pipe.

The festivities included the caber toss . . . grown men throwing trees!

And the sheef (not sheep-no animals were hurt in this celebration) . . . .

En route home

Mother's Day

On the day the United States celebrated Mother's Day Ann Marie and Aviana enjoyed an afternoon at the zoo! Boy it was hot! As Dad was out of town the official Sekerak Mother's Day took place the following Sunday.

Do you see Mom taking it easy on Mother's Day while baby "monkeys" around and Dad keeps an eye for trouble?

The day was hot, after a mini-meltdown Aviana recovered her usual good spirits in her car seat stroller. I wonder where she gets her open mouth smile from?

After seeing all the animals at the zoo we found a private shady spot to enjoy the Albuquerque Symphony's concert. Aviana spent most of the concert grabbing and trying to eat grass--perhaps she will be a vegetarian!

There's nothing like a mother's love . . .

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY MOM!

Fast forward to a week later . . . Sekerak Mother's Day . . .

The card reads Happy Mother's Day to the best mother EVER from the best daughter EVER!

Playing the classic Falk game Hot and Cold present search!

Beautiful ring with Aviana's birth stone, Citrine.

6 months aka half a year!

Heeeeeeey world I am 6 months old today!

Aviana continues to be a joy to those she meets. She studies each new person she meets and it takes a little time for her to warm up. But when she smiles at you there is nothing like it!

I can roll over, sit up on my own . . . and eat my feet!

What a big girl!

Happy half birthday to my beautiful baby girl!

Run for the Zoo!

Who would have thought May 2nd in Albuquerque would dawn cold, windy, rainy, and with the sun in hiding? The Sekerak's braved the elements to participate in the annual Run for the Zoo. Dad got up way too early to run the 10K while Mom and Aviana met him later for the 5k walk. Rain right before the start almost convinced us to head home but we persevered.

Aviana is bundled up for the walk. After refusing to keep her hoodie up Mom allowed Dad to style her hat. Is the pirate look in?

Approaching the finish line!

Official race number! The first of many . . .

Rolling Stone

Aviana is code for rolling stone. She now rolls efficiently to the left, right, and all over the place. Maybe her cute smile will distract Mom from the fact that she is in arm's reach of all the buttons on the stereo!

Aviana likes her morning exersaucer time as Mom and Dad get ready for work!

Mom--stop smiling like that you're embarrassing me!

I love it when Dad flies me around the house!
